THE RONALD WOLFE COLLECTION - ON THE BUSES - A NEW LIFE

The Ronald Wolfe Collection - On The Buses, A New Life (1987 stage play) - a collection of items from the 1988 stage play performed in Canada, starring Anna Karen, Michael Robbins and Doris Hare. Includes: a full original draft script for both Act 1 and Act 2 (complete), with some amendments / markings within. Along with a script cover signed to the front by Doris Hare (Mum) in black ink, a brief synopsis sheet, an original flyer for the show at McPherson Playhouse, a photocopy of the programme, and two tickets from Wolfe's visit to the play. Unique collection of On The Buses related material.

Doris Hare, Anna Karen and Michael Robbins reprised their roles from the classic sitcom in the new play, set after the series. Situated in a hotel, the play was a comedy farce and saw Olive get to meet her father for the first time.

There was, at one stage, talk of the play being adapted by CBC for a television series, but this never came to fruition. It would have been filmed and made in Canada, and sold back to ITV for broadcast.

Ronald Wolfe (1922-2011) was a British television, radio and cinema screenwriter, and one half of the Ronald Wolfe and Ronald Chesney writing partnership. Wolfe wrote for some of the biggest stars in Britain from the 1950s to the 1990s, and had major success with the sitcoms The Rag Trade, Meet The Wife and On The Buses. In later life he taught comedy writing at City University, London. He passed away in 2011. The items being offered for sale in this special auction are direct from his estate, and represent an important archive of British comedy, television, and radio history.
