WRESTLING - LARGE COLLECTION OF AUTOGRAPHS
Wrestling - a large collection of autographs and signed photographs relating to c1960s and 1970s (some outside these dates) Wrestlers. Includes several notebooks of signatures, two autograph albums (variously filled), several signed programmes / 'Wrestling Review' brochures and a collection of signed photographs. Most unidentified, but names include: Pat Roach, Sky Low Low, Mick McManus, Johnny Saint, Joe Rostron (signed photo and letter), Count Bartelli, Jack Rowlands, Bert Royal, John Cox, Gentleman Jim Lewis, Big Bruno Elrington, The White Angels and many others.
From the collection of John Short, a well-known local autograph collector in the Bristol area who amassed over 50,000 autographs in his lifetime. His other loves were Wresting and Speedway. As a young boy John attended many local wrestling matches and could always be found with his autograph book in hand. In 1975 he became a Wrestling Master of Ceremonies and Timekeeper, a career which he continued for over forty years. In the wrestling community, he was affectionately known as 'the legend'.
