BRITISH PRIME MINISTERS - COLLECTION OF AUTOGRAPHS
British Prime Ministers - collection of autographs from British Prime Ministers. To include:
- Lord Palmerston - Prime Minister from 1855 to 1858 - signed letter on mourning stationery, in French. He apologises for not having answered previous letters or attended a performance. Plus translation.
- Stanley Baldwin - Prime Minister on three occasions between 1923 and 1937 - signed card on House Of Commons stationery.
- Harold Macmillan - Prime Minister 1957-1963 - printed autograph on Downing Street stationery with affixed image.
- Edward Heath - Prime Minister 1970-1974 - autograph on a slip of paper.
- John Major - Prime Minister 1990 to 1997 - autograph on a slip of paper
- and Tony Blair - Prime Minister 1997-2007 - autograph on a slip of paper.

Provenance: The Jan van Bree collection. Jan van Bree (1938-2024) was a Dutch native, and a prolific autograph collector. His collection began in 1957 when he wrote to the famous Italian singer Beniamino Gigli and received a handwritten reply. That one letter spurred Jan to write to as many famous people as possible, all over the world. From singers to scientists, actors to astronauts. Naturally, Jan also went autograph hunting in-person at major theaters in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and Enschede. Hardly any event could pass without Jan obtaining a signature. In later years he also purchased autographs – usually of historical importance – from various trusted dealers and auction houses. His collection spanned around fifty albums, with many hundreds loose. He passed away in April 2024. His lifetime collection is offered here for sale without reserve.
