A collection of x5 mid-century radio broadcast receiver and electrical test devices to include; a vintage 1930s valve broadcast receiver for the blind manufactured by Burne-Jones and Company with braille marking, x2 crystal radio receivers, one being a WWII Second World War Air Ministry issued Crystal Monitor Type 2 radio. The monitor with dials and telephone slots is designed for military aircrafts for monitoring C.W transmitters and receivers. Ref 10D/11390, serial No. 6435. A vintage 1920s BTH British Thompson-Houston Type C Form A Crystal set radio receiver cased in a wooden box. Serial No. R54829. Largest measures approximately 45cm.

The Museum Of Electricity in Christchurch, Dorset, was based in a former 1903 Edwardian Power Station. It operated from the early 1980s until 2012. Following a programme of disposal where many of the items have been rehomed and made available for public or community use, the residual artefacts are now being made available for private collection through this auction.
The proceeds from this special sale will be used to support the preservation of, and public access to, SSE’s collection of heritage artefacts. Many of SSE’s heritage objects are on long-term loan while others are currently exhibited at across SSE sites, including Pitlochry Dam Visitor Centre in Perthshire, Head office in Perth and the Company’s offices in Forbury Place, Reading.
