Signed by Christopher Tolkien to first edition plate. Full red morocco, gilt spine & Tolkien monogram inset cover, upper edge gilt, very light shelfwear & leather in need of light clean, presented in red cloth slipcase with just minor shelfwear; spotted to foredge and prelims, map bound to rear board. Complete in original cardboard box with copy number label, hand numbered, as well as two publisher's advertising slips, one sent off for & used to acquire this, the original cheque paid with, and the signed publisher's letter from George Allen and Unwin detailing receipt of order. A rare chance to acquire the desirable signed true first edition of Tolkien's Silmarillion, still with original packaging & letters. 8vo. (1)
