A scarce 19th Century British Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company Naval sword. The sword having a brass lions head pommel with a rayskin grip and wire banding and bowl shaped knuckle guard with foul anchor and rising sun insignia of the P&OSNC. The blade stamped on the ricasso for Tappolet & Co. Housed in a leather scabbard with brass mounts. Measures approx 93cm.
One known example is displayed by the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich.
