STAR WARS - SCARCE VINTAGE PALITOY DEATH STAR PLAYSET
Star Wars - a scarce original vintage Palitoy made Star Wars ' Death Star ' playset. The playset appearing 100% complete (this is not guaranteed). Includes the gunner's chair, canopy, guns, some clips, and all the major cardboard panels. Used condition, some dings, small tears and scratches from use. Canopy has a small chip to one corner, otherwise excellent. Displays well. From a genuine childhood collection.
When first partnered with Kenner, Palitoy hit a problem with the original Death Star set and under pressure to keep costs low, they found it impossible to make Kenner's all-plastic Death Star within budget, so instead in time for Christmas 1978, they created their own entirely original design. The cardboard hemisphere you see here was that end result. Survival rates of such sets are low as the card is easily bent / ripped and the small clips lost or broken.
