Minted in 22 carat gold, this full sovereign features Queen Victoria’s Young Head portrait, which was her favourite portrait for coinage. Struck at The Royal Mint’s Australian Sydney branch and issued in the same year as the Anglo-Zulu war in South Africa. This coin was struck at a time when gold Sovereigns were used as circulating coins and features Queen Victoria’s Young Head portrait by William Wyon RA on the obverse, and the more rare shield design to the reverse. Weighs approximately 7.94g.
