“Lovely Jubbly!” Original Bottle of ‘Peckham Spring’ Water Heads to Auction

We've unearthed another original bottle of Peckham Spring Water from Only Fools & Horses and it's coming up for auction later this month!

We've previously sold other bottles from the legendary episode, and are delighted to have unearthed another!

The bottle originates from the legendary 1992 Christmas Special, Mother Nature's Son, in which Del Boy Trotter (played by Sir David Jason) strikes "liquid gold" in his allotment, only to inadvertently bottle and sell contaminated tap water from the local reservoir.

‘We’ve become the ‘go-to’ place for Peckham Spring bottles,’ says Auctioneer Andy Stowe. ‘Around 200 were made for the episode, and this bottle is the seventh we’ve discovered. On a list of ‘people who’ve touched the most Peckham Spring bottles,’ I think I’m third behind David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst!’

The bottle was given away to a lucky audience member after filming ended in the studio. ‘The BBC had all these bottles left over once the final scene was filmed,’ adds Andy, ‘so they literally gave them away to the studio audience that night as souvenirs. Most have been lost to the sands of time, but a handful still exist. It’s a beloved programme, and these props mean so much to the fans.’

‘I like to think that there are a few more tucked away in various cupboards and drinks’ cabinets around the country. They are worth a small fortune to serious collectors!’

The Peckham Spring bottle goes under the hammer in our ‘British Comedy Auction’ on June 29th, with an estimate of £800 to £1,200. It also comes with the original audience programme from the filming. The full auction details can be found right HERE.
